Nuuk - Withdrawal of ice in Greenland reached its peak in 2010, which claimed the United Nations (UN) as the warmest year on Earth.

Straits Times launched on Saturday (22/01/2011), the melting ice in Greenland last year more than doubled during the last three decades. The results were published in the journal Environmental Research Letters.

In these studies, it is known that the total melting ice in Greenland reached 530 gigatons (billion tons). Comparing with the period 1958-2009, where the average melting ice only reached 274 to 285 gigatons.

Not only find out the amount of melting ice, the results of these studies also claim if Greenland will give a larger contribution to sea level rise than predicted a few years ago.

If melted completely, Greenland ice sheets could increase sea levels up to seven feet and drown several towns (which are by the sea) all over the world.
